My story is based on the story of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ or ‘The Hunch Back of Notre Dame’ both work equally well.
I would begin my opening scene with an extreme close up of a boy’s face ugly in appearance, the camera would then zoom out to reveal the boy sitting alone in a crowded common room. As the camera zoomed out, the voices of the other children would get loader and loader. Their would then be a shot of the boy walking alone down a corridor with some text books, three lads would then barge the boy into some lockers where he would drop his books the bullies would walk off away from the camera into the distance and out of site. The boy would then bend down and try to pick up his books the camera would then cut to a close up of his hands where another set of hands would appear to help him the camera would then cut to a mid-shot of a very attractive female smiling and saying “here let me help you, those boys are idiots don’t worry about them”. It would then pan to a profile shot from the side where a girl would hand the boy his books and they would both stand up at the same time and the girl would say “Ok, I best be going I’ll be late to my lesson… See you around”. The boy still stood up frozen to his spot would stand and stair blankly as the girl walked away. The camera would then cut to a close up of the boy’s face which would then smile and walk pasted the camera. It would then cut to a new scene of the boy day dreaming in class. Where the teacher would shout at him for not paying attention and the rest of the class would laugh and one voice would shot “Minger!”, The boy hearing this would get up and storm out of class, another voice would say “do you want me to go after him miss” and the Teachers voice would say “No don’t worry Hopkins has just bought himself a week of detentions” all the time the other characters would be out of site and it would still be a mid shot of the empty chair. The boy would then run down the corridor upset and past a door where the story would then cut to a shot of the girl seeing him run past the door saying she needed to be excused because she needed the toilet she would then run after the boy shouting his name “Sam, Sam!” she would then find the boy sitting in a chair upset about the resent events, this would be an over the shoulder shot to show she has seen the boy alone on the chair. She would then sit next to him and ask him what was wrong, where he would explain what just happened and how he has always been bullied because of the way he looks, the girl hearing this would tell him that she thinks he was good looking and had a great personality and ask him if he would like to go to the movies with her on Friday, the boy looking shocked would ask “Me you want to go with me” and the girl would reply “Yes silly you there’s no one else here” this would be a mid shot of first the boy alone then the girl sits next to him the shot would stay the same through this scene to show the awkwardness. The shot would then be from the boys point of view looking at the girl where he would say “What time should I pick you up is 7 ok?” and the girl would reply in the teachers voice “Hopkins are you listening” where the camera would switch back to the boys face which is looking very confused then back to the girls face as she again in a teachers voice says “Pay attention Hopkins” and the sound of children’s laughter the scene would then cut to the boy back in the chair snapping out of his day dream to the sound of children’s laughter, he had day dreamed the whole thing a child voice would shot out “Minger!” just as before and the short would end abruptly.
The moral of the story would be don’t judge a book by it’s cover, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, beauty is only skin deep, theirs someone out their for every one, looks aren’t everything and its what’s on the inside that counts except the harsh twist in the plot cancels this out so I guess the moral of the story is… Don’t day dream in class?
If this doesn’t work alternative ending is the girl and the boy live happily ever after.
